Stencils are a very practical and smart option when painting the walls of a room. Although you can find a wide variety of stencils in art and decoration stores, you can also make them very easily, using resistant material such as thin cardboard, card stock or acetate. You just have to carefully cut the figure you want to capture on a piece of cardboard or acetate sheet.
You can choose an infinity of shapes and figures to capture:
Some useful tips:
- To paint a figure with the stencil, place it on the wall and apply a coat of paint with a small brush or sponge.
- Make sure there is no excess paint, as it can seep through the edges of the stencil and leave stains on the wall. To prevent this from happening, you must first pass the brush or sponge on a piece of absorbent paper to remove the excess.
- Use a paint in a contrasting tone to the background wall so that the effect is more attractive and striking.
